What should I bring ?

Sleeping bag/quilt, pillow, towels and toiletries are the only essentials you need to pack. Our advice would be to travel light, but you’ll be amazed at how much storage space Dylan’s got.

The driver(s) needs to bring along their driving licence.  For the main driver we need two pieces of id.  The first is some form of picture id (for example drivers license or passport) and the second as proof of address (for example utility bill that is less than 8 weeks old showing your name and address).  We cannot release the campervan until satisfactory proof of identity is provided.

The refundable security deposit in the form of cash or cheque.

Are my personal belongings covered in the campervan insurance ?

No. We recommend that you have your own travel insurance to cover your personal belongings and cancellations.

What is the security deposit used for ?

This is a fully refundable deposit that is only used where damage is caused to the van during the hire period including interior fixtures and fittings. Insurance covers you in the event of a reported accident / collision.

Can I see Dylan before I book ?

You are welcome to come and visit Dylan. Please call to prearrange a mutually convenient day and time for your visit. If you are local (Herefordshire, Worcestershire or Gloucestershire), we may even be able to meet somewhere near your home or office.

What is the booking process ?

  1. Complete the enquiry form or contact Mary direct to check availability.
  2. We will confirm your provisional booking via email or phone and request a deposit to secure the booking.  Where the booking is less than six weeks from departure, the full balance is payable.
  3. We ask you to complete a Booking Confirmation form.  This details the driver(s) information so that the required insurance cover can be put in place and any extras you require.
  4. The final balance invoice will be sent for payment six weeks before departure.
  5. We will contact you the week before your hire period starts to provide directions and make sure that you are happy with the arrangements. Any extras are paid prior to departure.

Will I receive instructions for using the campervan?

Yes, you’ll get a full “how” “what” and “where” on Dylan before you set off – allow at least 30 minutes for this.

Can I leave my car there?

Yes, you can leave your car here, but this is done at your own risk and we take no responsibility for your vehicle.  For practical reasons, we ask that you leave a car key with us, should your vehicle need to be moved for any reason.

Can you pick me up from the train station?

We’re happy to collect you from Gloucester train station, just give us an update of your expected arrival time when you are en route, so that we can be there to meet you.

How different is a VW campervan to drive?

Hee hee!

When you get into Dylan, it’s like stepping back in time…. there is no power steering, no ABS brakes, no electric windows  – in fact it’s a great workout for your arms!

The best piece of advice I can give you is…. Take your time! Believe me, there’s not much scarier than going around a tight bend in a camper in 4th gear!

Dylan will happily cruise along at 55-60mph.

Anything else?

If you are booking this as a surprise for someone, Mary is more than happy to work with you to ensure that all goes smoothly and well…. and she makes a jolly good marble cake!
